In its November/December issue, Architect Magazine announced the winners of the 2023 Residential Design Awards, recognizing Turkel Design’s Lake Muskoka Boathouse with an Honorable Mention in the Outbuildings category.
Located in Port Carling, Ontario, the Lake Muskoka Boathouse is a pared-back, utilitarian structure made primarily from regionally appropriate wood. According to Architect, it “introduces a streamlined, modern typology to these oft-banal structures.” Prefabricated off-site using Turkel Design’s signature process, the boathouse “creates a precedent for efficient and thoughtful building under tight regulations and along sensitive coastlines.”
